There is only one way to get ready for immortality and that is to

love this life and live it as bravely and faithfully and cheerfully as we can.

What is the Boas From Nicki Project?   It is a Miles That Matter Foundation initiative to commemorate the life of one of its’ founding members.  Nicki Williams was a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend to everyone she met.  She was silly, yet loving and wore her boa well!  She loved to work in her garden, play golf and walk with her friends.  She was an active member of the Miles That Matter training program and participated in many marathons, half marathons and other race events.  Even in her last year, as she was battling kidney cancer, she continued to support many causes.  She made life MATTER!

Just weeks before she passed away she participated in her last race.  Her fellow participants with Miles That Matter pushed her in her wheelchair until the last 20 yards...where she got out and walked across the finish line.  Like the quote above from Henry Van Dyke—she was brave, she was faithful and for certain—she was cheerful.  It was on that day that the Boas from Nicki Project was born.  It was friends supporting friends and a promise to Nicki that we would carry on her legacy.

This project will serve as an avenue to raise money to promote health and fitness and provide innovative and compassionate care for those families facing cancer or any other debilitating illness.  A great way to serve the under served.

The Miles That Matter Foundation Mission is to educate and promote health and fitness in our communities with an emphasis on enriching every life we touch.  This means we will care, commit and connect, hoping to add something positive to each life we encounter, expecting nothing in return.
